  • The River City-  where the contours of the Ohio River, Kentucky's northern/western state border, hugs the length of Louisville, and serves as a live backdrop to downtown festivals and other events!
  • The Derby City-  home of Churchill Downs, and the Kentucky Derby, the longest running, continuously held sporting event in the United States; and commonly referred to as, "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports"! 

  • The Bourbon City- "All Bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is Bourbon!", someone once said. Kentucky is the bourbon capitol of the world, and Louisville's Urban Bourbon Trail takes visitors and residents along a unique path through Louisville's Bourbon District, including historic bars, restaurants, local bourbon distillery experiences and more!  

  • The Festival City-  The Kentucky Derby Festival tops the list of many nationally recognized festivals held every year in Louisville, including: "Abbey Road on the River", cited as the largest Beatles and 60's music festival in America, and "WorldFest", a celebration of different international cultures, music and food!

  • The City of Parks-   Louisville maintains 122 city parks, including 18 designer Frederick Law Olmstead parks. Louisville's Waterfront Park is an award winning park situated along the downtown Ohio River waterfront! 

  • The Birthplace of Muhammad Ali-  "The Greatest", world-class boxer, three-time heavyweight champion, and distinguished humanitarian whose legacy continues to be respected around the world!  "Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee", a boxing mantra by Muhammad Ali. 

  • The Home of The Louisville Slugger-  museum and factory, located in downtown Louisville, making bats since 1884! The largest bat in the world, standing at the front door, greets visitors from around the world.

  • Founded by George Rogers Clark in 1778 and named after King Louis XVI of France for his assistance in the Revolutionary War
  • Located along the Ohio River, Kentucky's northern state border, and across from the state of Indiana
